VOLUNTEER REQUIREMENTS

Life Hospice’s onboarding process begins with each prospective volunteer filling out an application, where we ask for information regarding employment and any past volunteer experiences, as well as references and other personal information that will help Life Hospice determine if a volunteer is a good fit for our organization.
Next, volunteers will interview with our Volunteer Coordinator and Director of Clinical Services at our Livingston office. From there, we ask that each applicant provides two references that we may contact. Each applicant must also undergo a criminal background check and obtain medical clearance. Before beginning, each volunteer will complete an orientation at our Livingston office, to learn more about hospice and a volunteer’s role.

Hear from Our Dedicated Volunteers

After retiring from corporate life, I wanted to put my energy toward something meaningful in my community. Volunteering to provide companionship to people in hospice care has fulfilled that goal - and has been such a rewarding experience for both me and my therapy dog, Gracie. The time we spend with patients brings us deep joy, connection, and gratitude.
Stephen Lines, pet therapy volunteer
Volunteering with Life Hospice has been one of the most meaningful experiences of my life. It is a unique privilege to be able to spend time with people and their families during their most vulnerable days. I would encourage anyone who is able to consider hospice volunteering, both for the impact it has on patients and their families, and for the valuable perspective it can provide to one’s own life.
Juliana DaSilva, companionship volunteer
It has been very fulfilling to volunteer as an administrative volunteer in the Life Hospice office. I call patients' families to ask if they need anything from the hospice team. Speaking with the families has been very rewarding, as they are very grateful for the Life Hospice volunteers. Also, the staff at the office have been so welcoming. If you are looking to volunteer I highly recommend that you consider Life Hospice!
